Funds to be used for Hurricane Irma relief

Tampa, Fla.—Feb. 28, 2018 — Altierus Career College and ECMC Group have donated $138,300 to the American Red Cross of Tampa Bay to help continue the disaster relief efforts from last fall’s Hurricane Irma.

While the Altierus campus in Tampa Bay was unaffected by the storm, several employees were impacted. Employees across the organization as well as Altierus’ parent company—ECMC Group—collected funds to benefit their coworkers and the community at large.

“Our employees care deeply about the areas in which they the live and work,” said Jacob Kassuba, Executive Director at Zenith Education Group, which provides oversight to Altierus Career College. “In addition to donating funds to help their fellow employees, we are proud to provide a significant donation to help with the rebuilding efforts.”

Altierus, ECMC Group and its employees raised a cumulative $400,000. Part of the funds were distributed to employees in Houston and Tampa, who were impacted by the storms. The remaining dollars are being donated to the American Red Cross in those areas.

“In 2017, a year marked by historic hurricanes, raging wildfires and countless other crises, the American Red Cross was there for a record number of people – making sure people had shelter, food and a shoulder to lean on,” said Jennifer Pipa, CEO of the American Red Cross Central Florida. “We are grateful for generous donors like ECMC Group who enable us to deliver these life-sustaining services to our communities, including right here at home where many were affected by Hurricane Irma.”

Altierus Career College in Tampa Bay offers diplomas in four program areas: Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Electrician and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
