Altierus Career College-Tampa announced it has appointed Oluyemi (Yemi) Awolola campus director. Awolola fills the position previously held by Michael Schwam, who retired in October after leading the campus for three years.
"Yemi’s many years of experience in postsecondary education, as well as his enduring mission to help students throughout their educational journey are characteristics we need to help the campus thrive," said Jacob Kassuba, executive director of Zenith Education Group, which oversees the Altierus Career College campuses. "His leadership will enable us to develop offerings that meet the professional goals of our students while meeting the needs of local employers."
Awolola brings 14 years of experience in teaching, administration and education leadership across a variety of fields. Prior to his role as campus director, he served as academic dean at the Altierus Tampa campus, and he has been academic dean and director of education at postsecondary institutions across the country. Awolola began his career as a pharmacy technician instructor in 2004 in Houston, where he was promoted to academic dean in 2007.
"From the start of my career as a teacher, my goal was to impact as many students as possible," said Awolola. "I am excited about my new role and look forward to helping students realize their own goals and make their dreams a reality through lifelong learning."
Awolola received his Bachelor of Arts from University of Missouri-Columbia and his Master’s in Education Technology from Strayer University.
